Penny Sherrill Garrard, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2008. She was 49. Mrs. Garrard was born in Bowdon, GA on April 25, 1958 to Lewis Warren and Eva Whitman Sherrill. She was a graduate of Bowdon High School and then continued her education by obtaining degrees from Young Harris College and West Georgia College. Through her employment, Mrs. Garrard was a servant to the needs of children. She had worked with the Carrollton City Schools in their Pre-Kindergarten program and was also a former employee of the Department of Juvenile Justice. She was currently serving as an Adoption Caseworker for the Department of Family and Children Services. Mrs. Garrard was also a member of Victory United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Garrard was preceded in death by her father, Lewis W. Sherrill, and a nephew, Jason Joyner. Survivors include her loving husband, Randy Garrard, her daughter, her mother, two sisters and brothers-in-law, four aunts and uncles, and three nieces and four nephews.

Funeral service held on February 9 at the Bowdon First United Methodist Church with Rev. Martha Dye officiating and Walter Shealy, the organist, rendering the music. Pallbearers include Jeff Sherrill, Carl Sherrill, Reuben Sherrill, Joe Sherrill, Clay Sherrill, Clint Sherrill, and Warren Gordon. Interment in the church cemetery. Rainwater Funeral Home of Bowdon, GA in charge of the arrangements.
