LUCILLE D. "CIL" BURNS, of Colorado Springs died Tuesday at her home. She was a social worker for the El Paso County Department of Social Services.
The funeral will be held at Fairfield Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Ga. Burial will be at the church's cemetery. The Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., is handling local arrangements.
Ms. Burns was born in Harrisburg, Pa. Her father, Charlie Burns, is deceased. Ms. Burns' mother, Lucile (Howard) Burns, lives in Waynesboro.
She had lived in Colorado Springs since 1978 and also had resided in Denver. She received a bachelor's degree from Penn State University and a master's degree from the University of Massachussetts.
Ms. Burns is survived by her friend and companion, Octavia Phillips; four brothers, Woodrow Freeman, Julius Howard and Joseph Burns, all of Harrisburg, and Robert Burns of Waynesboro; and three sisters, Lillie Norris and Mattie McKinney, both of Harrisburg, and Charlie Mae Scott of Atlanta.
