Otto was married to Eleanor Linsey in July of 1937, The couple had eight children: Kenneth Horrock of Alliance, NB., Lindsey Horrocks of Lyons, MI., James Horrocks, Dixie Murawa of Lyons, Shirley Houghton, Kathy Seth and Geraldine Christensen, all of Ionia, and Gina Jo Horrocks.
He farmed in the Ionia area and was employed by the Pere Marquette Railroad before he entered the armed forces.
Otto John Horrocks entered the United States Army in April of 1941 and served with the Army Corps of Engineers in Germany and the Philippines.
When he returned home he was self employed owner and operator of the Clark Service Station on Dexter Street in Ionia. He was also employed by the Village of Lyons and owned and operated his own bottled gas service.
The Girard-Horrrocks Post was an organization dear to his heart and he was very active in promoting it. He was one of the first to make arrangements for proper memorial funeral services for deceased war veterans. Otto was instrumental in purchasing two buses to help transport marching members of the Legion and the drum and bugle corps.
Otto John Horrocks passed away in October 1979 in Ionia, MI. He was buried in Lyons Cemetery.
