Margaret E. Coe-Loomis, 82, of Springfield died at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Lawnwood Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Fla. She was born June 3, 1926, in Niantic Township, Macon County, the daughter of Herman and Maude Disney Burge. She married Robert E. Coe; he died in 1976. She then married John R. Bice. Following his death, she married Robert W. Loomis who also preceded her in death, in 2003.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary; brothers, Otis, Percy and David, three husbands; and a daughter, Nancy Carr.
She is survived by a son, Doc (wife, Peggy) Coe of Dawson; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sarah "Sadie" (husband, D.R.) Boyett of Bronson, Texas; close friends, William Vasser of Okeechobee, Fla., and Wilda Riedinger of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a resident of Springfield since 1988 and lived in Mechanicsburg from 1942 to 1988. She was a homemaker and caregiver for the elderly for many years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and former member of Mechanicsburg Christian Church. She was the queen mother of the Seminole Court Cuties chapter of the Red Hat Society, past president of Springfield Lioness Club and member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Venus Chapter 408. She enjoyed gardening, cleaning, cooking and caring for her house.
Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Staab Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Hanson officiating. Burial will be at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Mechanicsburg Cemetery Association or MERCY Communities Inc.
