Gomer E. Jones was the son of David and Elizabeth Davis Jones, but his mother died when he was 11 month old and he was raised by his uncle Joshua Jones and his wife Axie in Gouverneur. He married Bernice Smith on October 12, 1915. They couple operated a farm on Welch road and had a son and a daughter. He was active in his community and was a town councilman for the town of Gouverneur for ten years. He was also a member of the United Church of Richville and the Richville Grange.
Gomer was survived by his wife, Bernice, a daughter, four grandchildren and three sisters. His son, Irving, died in 1940.
