Benjamin Thomas "Benny" Walls, age 88, a resident of Oliver Springs went home to be with the Lord March 12, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Mr. Walls was born February 5, 1924, in Oliver Springs. He was a lifelong resident of this area.

Benny was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church He was a obedient faithful Christian man who truly loved the Lord.

He retired in 1982 from Union Carbide following 43 years of employment in maintenance service at the Y-12, X-10 and K-25 federal plants.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Edna Mae Halburnt Walls, by his parents; Algie Walls and Pearl Giles Walls, by brothers; Hicks and Clyde Walls and by sisters; Frances Johnson and Mable Goans.

Mr. walls is survived by a daughter, Clara Crooks of Mohawk, TN, by sons; John Walls and wife, Patricia of Farmington, MN and Leroy Walls of Chattanooga, by grandchildren; Scott Lunsford and wife, Cathleen of Spartan, NJ, Cynthia Carrier and husband, John of Bluff City, TN, Jonathan Walls of Farmington, MN, Michelle Beaudet and husband, Todd of Aberdeen, MD, Rebecca Martin and husband, Bruce of Lakeville, MN and David Walls and wife Alyson of Rogers, AR and by 12 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Hensley and husband, Frank of Clinton, and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 14, 2012, between the hours of 11:00 am and 1:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Bro. H. B. Carney and John Walls officiating. Burial will follow at the Oliver Springs Cemetery.
