Dtr of Alvin & Bertha Shrum. Married James Payne November 5, 1966.

Heaven has a new angel today. At 9:10 AM on December 11th, 2013 Ruby Payne closed her eyes in this world and woke up in the presence of Jesus. She was the vice president of James Payne Ministries Inc. Ruby Payne was born November 3rd, 1946 to the late Alvin Shrum and Bertha Shrum. She is survived by her husband James Payne, two sons, Adrian David Payne, and Mark Payne. Two daughters in law Happy and Stephanie Payne. Three wonderful grandchildren, Cory, Spencer, and Cadence Payne. Ruby had three brothers, Benny Shrum and Bobby Shrum, and one brother Kenneth who gave his life for his country in Vietnam. Ruby had five sisters, Lily McClanahan, Frances Hardin, Linda McAlpin, Wanda Shumaker, and Faye Patterson. She also had many nieces and nephews.

Ruby was married to James Payne November 5th, 1966. They entered full time ministry in January of 1976 in Nashville Tennessee at Calvary Temple Church. They later entered evangelism and traveled together around the world for over 25 years. She left behind a great legacy of people she introduced to Jesus. Everyone that knew her said she was the most loving, merciful, and giving person they had ever had the privilege to meet. For many years she was seen on the TBN television network. Appearing in the dramas that were performed at Trinity City and touched millions. She was well known around the world and left many friends behind.

This is James Payne her husband and I want to tell you Ruby Payne was the greatest and most Godly person I've ever known. She was a very hard worker, a loyal companion, and a friend you could count on to the end. She always had my back. She prayed for me, put up with me, and worked with me. This was the saddest day in my life. But as I watched her battle cancer the last 39 months I saw a woman of unshakeable faith, awesome sense of humor, and more determination to live than I've ever seen in all my life. Right up till the end she was praising God, praying for others, and encouraging those around her. To say she will be missed is an understatement. A great chapter of my life ended today. I feel numb, uncertain about the future, and not sure where to go from here. All I know is, I must finish my course. She and I answered the call to full time ministry 38 years ago. She finished her course and now I must finish mine. Thank you for your prayers. This is the toughest thing I've ever experienced. Pray for my sons, their wives, and the grandkids.

We have decided years ago to not have a traditional funeral. Instead we will have a celebration party with food, singing, laughter, and shared memories of how Ruby touched the lives of thousands around the world. We will also have some Elvis music, it was her favorite…..smile! Others from the music community in Nashville will sing her favorite songs.

We will have a memorial service for Ruby at our home church on January12th, 2014. It's River Of Life in Smyrna Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers we ask donations be made to James Payne Ministries….P.O. Box 39….Eagleville, TN 37060. These donations will be used to help build a church in Ruby's memory in Kenya. In the last 14 years we have helped to build over 150 churches there. Ruby's heart was to build churches, help me raise money to pay off church mortgages, and help raise money for Christian Television. I know God will bless you as you sow seeds to help us keep her vision, memory, and legacy alive. We love you.
