Daughter of Ollie Porter & John Kitchen. Effie was engaged to marry William (Bill) Jefferson Blevins and was in the process of making her wedding dress on the day he was shot. My grandmother Myrtle Kitchen Dennison (Effie's baby sister) was 7 years old and swinging on a door watching Effie sew her wedding dress when the knock came on the front door of their house that Sunday that Bill was shot. After Bill died she became engaged to and married Bills brother Lonnie Basil (L.B.) Blevins.
