From The Genesee News
November 7, 1930

Henry Baumgartner, 62, 1219 Sycamore street, died suddenly of heart failure while hunting near Lindsay creek, seven miles east of Lewiston, Saturday morning, after leaving the car in company with Joe Bittle, also of Clarkston.
The men had joined Charles Hahn and John Zinn, Lewiston, whom they chanced to meet, and all were walking into a field about 100 yards apart when Mr. Bittle noticed that Mr. Baumgartner had fallen. Mr. Bittle, who was the first to reach the dying man, gave him first aid, but said he breathed only a few times after he reached him. A physician was summoned and arrived with an ambulance 45 minutes later.
Although Mr. Baumgartner had not been in the best of health for two years, there had been no indication of heart trouble. He had talked very little during the drive to the hunting fields, according to Mr. Bittle.
Mr. Baumgartner was born in Minnesota in 1863. When he was about 15 years of age he came with his parents to the Genesee country. He was married in 1888 at Uniontown to Miss Philippina Algier. A few years of their married life were spent at Forest, Idaho, and the remainder of the time at Genesee, until they moved to Clarkston ten years ago. He still retained his ranch property near Genesee.
Mr. Baumgartner is survived by his widow, five children, William and George Baumgartner, Genesee; Mrs. John Kluss, Genesee; Mrs. Peter Kasper, Moscow; Dollie Baumgartner at home; a brother, Matt Baumgartner, Clarkston; three sisters, Mrs. Adolph Grieser, Moscow; Mrs. Paul Scharbach, Alberta, Canada; Mrs. John Gesellchen, Modesto, Calif.
Last rites for Mr. Baumgartner were held Monday from the Catholic church at Clarkston with the Ref. Fr. Jordan officiating. Interment was in the Genesee Catholic cemetery.--Lewiston Tribune
