Birth: 1842
Virginia, USA
Death: Jul. 6, 1916
Tunnelton
Preston County
West Virginia, USA

James was the son of James Plum.

He served in Company E, with the 15th Infantry Regiment.
An entry on the index to compiled service records of volunteer Union soldiers gives a James Plum of Tunnelton.
I do not have the Captains' name or other information for this Union regiment, only that they organized at Wheeling 26 Sept 1864 and were active until 25 Feb 1865 by the one entry found. This unit mustered out on 14 Jun 1865.

[Additional, 2013 - The enlistment dates of 22 Aug 1862 until 14 June 1865 are given on the Application for Headstone.]

The 1880 census has the birthplaces of his parents as Virginia and Maryland.

The list of his children is added on the memorial of his wife. The birth entries for children Cora & Lloyd give his middle name as "H". One incorrect transcription for another gives his middle name as "C" (when image is viewed, there is no "C" after the James). Most records available for this family give the name simply as James Plum.

For those who shared the pictures with me this past year:
Thank you ever so, for that kindness. I would never have seen his likeness if not for you. It is astounding how much resemblance he passed to one of us! It was wonderful to see Mary's face, too.
