Raymond was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Charles Matthew and Mittie Belle Daniels. He passed away in Parma, Ohio.

Raymond resided in the Caruthers area for 74 years.

He served his country in World War II and received the Purple Heart when his ship sank in the English Channel.

On June 18, 1949, he married Louise Spears in Caruthers, Ca. Coming from a musical family, Ray sang in many quartets, including The Daniels Family, The Gospelaires, The Chordsmen, and The Kings Disciples. Ray was the last original member of the Gospelaires.

He worked in the Fresno-Caruthers area, where he owned many businesses including American Best Cleaning. As a Selma Wal Mart employee, he was awarded People Greeter of the Year for 1998, and retired on March 25, 2005.

He was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly of God in Caruthers.

He also was an active member of the VFW in Caruthers, and was currently serving as the Junior Commander. Ray wrote several books about his life, which can be found in the Caruthers Library.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Matthew and Mittie Daniels; his brother, J.C. Daniels; and his sister, Vida Phillips

Raymond is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise Daniels; daughters, Lynnette Short and her husband Daniel, Vivian McLaughlin, Rayleen Owings and her husband Merle, Stacy Silva and her husband Keenan; son, Stephen Daniels and his wife Gina; grandchildren, Jonathan Short and his wife Stacy, Jeremy Short and his wife Heather, Rebecca Hankerson and her husband Jermaine, Kelly McLaughlin II, Brandon Owings and his wife Lindsey, Alicia Owings, Bryce Owings, Maxine Lyons-Owings, Justine Lyons-Owings, Forest Daniels, Shane Daniels, Sierra Daniels, Savannah Daniels, Anthony Silva, Andrew Silva, Alex Silva, Adam Silva; his great-grandchildren, Kyle Short, Spencer Short, Matthew Short, Emily Short, Kristen Short, Ashley Short, Haley Short, Seth Hankerson, Sarah Hankerson, Elizabeth Hankerson; sisters, Wanda Short, Anna Mae Rothell and her husband Elvin, Wilma Wyrick and her husband Al; his brother Wilbur Daniels and his wife Dena; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be at Lisle Funeral Home, on Tuesday April 7, 2009, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held at Full Gospel Assembly of God, 2475 W. Mountain View, Caruthers, Ca., on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
