Mrs. A. S. Schell, Pioneer of East Point, Dies, Funeral Friday.
Mrs. A. S. (Elmina E.) Schell, 85, a pioneer resident of East Point and one of the city's best known citizens, died Wednesday night, December 20, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gwin Lipes, 973 Ben Hill Road, following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the First Methodist Church of East Point with the Rev. Hoke C. Sewell officiating. Mrs. Schell was the wife of the late A. S. Schell, who died in 1934. Natives of South Georgia, the Schells came to East Point about 65 years ago. They established their home at 311 East Cleveland Avenue, where they lived for more than 40 years. Mrs. Schell had been living with her daughter since 1940. She was an active member of the First Methodist Church of East Point. Survivors include, in addition to Mrs. Lips, four other daughters, Mrs. J. C. Deaton, Mrs. J. Harvey Lester of Decatur, Mrs. J. L. Allen of Mobile, AL and Mrs. C. A. Britton of Nashville, TN; three sons, K. M. Schell of Chattanooga and A. E. and W. A. Schell; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Burial will be in Hill Crest cemetery under direction of Howard L. Carmichael & Sons.
