Albert Mann was the son of Gilbert B. and Almira Palmer Mann. He was born in Guildhall, Essex Co., Vermont on February 14, 1836. He came with his parents to Michigan about 1838 and married Mary Jane Ferguson on September 27, 1858. They had two children: Ida Mann Alcock and Elmer E. Mann. Albert was a veteran of the Civil War, serving with the 18th Michigan, Company C. The land that Hunt Cemetery is on was owned by Gilbert B. Mann.
