Ailing, Rev. Herbert Dean- Rev. Herbert Dean Ailing, 76 of Byesville, died Thursday (Dec 12, 2002) at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, following a brief illness. He was born March 19, 1926, in Strasburg, son of the late Lester and Lucille (Mears) Ailing. Rev. Ailing served as minister at several Free Methodist Churches, including churches in Zanesville and Pomeroy Ohio and Deerfield Michigan. His home church was the Free Methodist Church in Cambridge. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II and also the Korean War. He was a lieutenant colonel in the Army Civil Air Patrol, where he served as chaplain. He enjoyed "Ham" radios and electronics. He leaves his wife, Marcille (Harmon) Ailing, whom he married Aug 18, 1950; a son, Victor Ailing of Byesville; two daughters, Mrs. David (Elliott) Pouliotte of Holland, Mich., and Mrs. Jeff (rk) Kapnick of Newport Richey Fla.; a brother, Karl Ailing of Sandusky; and four grandchildren, Markas Kapnick, Joshua, Cayce and Chelsea Vanderbrink. Services were Monday at Black Family Funeral service, Byesville, with the Rev. Eugene Gill officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
