Note from Pat Millican:
From the book Alexander McDonald of New Iverness, GA & his descendants by Daniel Huntley Redfearn:
While serving in the Confederate Army, he returned home ill with typhoid fever and died on furlough. His father recorded his death in the old family Bible as follows: "Wednesday, 6 o'clock a.m. Departed this life John L. Dekle, son of C. B. Dekle and Elizabeth Dekle, aged 20 years and 18 days."
