CALIFORNIA OBITUARY: John Kontogianis, age 70, passed away on July 19th at home in Kirkland, Washington after a brief illness from cancer. Born and raised in Pittsburg, John, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, worked for U.S. Steel for 16 years and retired from Sears after 25 years. John was a past president of Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Concord. His wife Deena, daughter Denise Beyer, brothers Chris, Alex, Gus, and sister Ines Merrell survive him. Preceded in death by his sister Edna Turner. Burial was at Tahoma National Cemetery. Join his family in his memory on Sunday, July 27th from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the home of Rod and Chris Yoder, 2110 Hillcrest Ave, Antioch, CA (925) 754-2048.
