I believe Absolem (Absalom, Absolom) is buried here with Sarah. At the time the cemetery roster was made years ago, the cemetery was overgrown and cattle had been allowed to roam. Many stones were damaged, missing or destroyed. As Absolem was living nearby in the 1870 Census, I believe he would have been buried near his wife Sarah. I have been unable to find his gravestone elsewhere.
William Williams (1750-60 - bet 1834-38,Wales, of Grayson Co, now Carroll, VA) and Nancy Safewright Williams (1750-60 England - after August, 1834) are Absolem's parents. William was a Revolutionary War soldier under General Green.
"Absolam Williams" settled two miles northwest of Mt Vernon in 1841. The children of Absolem and Sarah Bobbitt Williams; Lucy, Nancy, William Jefferson, Mary Ann, Paulina, and Rebecca. All were born in Virginia.
The 1860 Lawrence County, MO Census lists Absolem Williams, 60, a farmer, and wife Sarah, 50, son William, 25, and Nancy Kelly, 34 and Sarah M Kelly, 12. All were born in Virginia except Sarah M, born in Missouri. Absolem owns $1500 in real estate and $2000 in personal property. William has $1000 in personal property.
In the 1870 Mt Vernon TS, Lawrence County, MO Census Absolem, 73, a retired farmer, born in Virginia, is living with his son William J Williams, 36, and wife Mary E, 20.
