Birth: Nov. 4, 1907
Caldwell County
Texas, USA
Death: Jun. 6, 2003
Travis County
Texas, USA

Madie was born Mary Virgie Miles. Because her name sounded too much like Mary Virgin, they changed her name to Madie. Her mother, Sally Kate Sullivan, died when she was 12. Her mother wanted the girls to have a mother, so she asked her father Ples to marry her cousin, Ellen New (FAG# 41341940), a widow herself. She had a step-brother, Robert Jackson, from this marriage.

Mrs. Madie Miles Davis, 95, of Austin, formerly of Lockhart and Canyon Lake, passed away June 6, 2003, in Austin, Texas. She was the daughter of Ples and Kate Miles.

Madie was preceded in death by her husband Clyde J. Davis.

She is survived by her sister, Audrey Dye of Hendersonville, Tennessee, son, Joe B. Davis and wife Irene of Austin, son, Ed Davis and wife Josie of Austin, daughter, Betty Wright of Dallas, and daughter, Carol Roberts and husband Ross of Austin. Her grandchildren are Robbie Hruska and husband Franklin, Mark Davis and wife Margaret, Steve Davis, Scott Davis, Elizabeth Davis, Pamela Wright, Beth Wright-Motyka and husband John, Tracy Crow and husband Carl, Vicky Nelson and husband Jeff, and Neal Richter and wife Betty. Her descendents also include eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Madie Davis was born in Harmony Grove, Texas, on November 4, 1907, and attended Southwest Texas University in San Marcos. Madie was a school teacher for several years and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. In earlier years, she always managed to have a hot meal for the family, as well as for visitors and occasional beggars at the back door. She befriended everyone she met and made everyone feel special. She was active in the First Lockhart Baptist Church for many years before moving to Canyon Lake and becoming a member of the Canyon Lake Baptist Church. She will be remembered lovingly by all of those whose lives she touched.
