Historical figure in Los Angeles, known as an author, attorney, California Ranger, mercenary, and publisher of The Porcupine newspaper in Los Angeles. His biography, "Fortune Favors the Brave," was written by Benjamin S. Harrison in 1953. He wrote "On the Old West Coast" and "Reminisences of a Ranger." He had two sons who are missing from the links below -- Horace Bell (1869-1941), and Albert Herrick Bell (1874-?).
