Georgia Lee Vogel, 54 of Scottsbluff, died Friday Aug. 22, 2003 at Regional West Mecial Center in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place at Jolliffe Funeral Home and Creamatory in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at The First Church of God in Scottsbluff with Pastor Guy Walton officating. Inturnment will follow at Fairview Cemetary. Memorials may be given in care of the family.

She was born Jan 18, 1949, in Scottsbluff, the daughter of George and Freida (Eisenach) Klein. She recieved her education in the Gering Public Schools, graduating from Gering High School with the class of 1967. She was united in marriage to Timothy Vogel, Sr. on Nov. 18, 1967 at Gering. The couple lived in the Scottsbluff and Gering areas all their married life. She worked as a receiving clerk at Safeway in Scottsbluff for the past five years. Her grandchildren were a very important part of her life.

She is survived by her daughter Carri Hutson of Scottsbluff; son Timothy Vogel Jr. of Scottsbluff; grandsons Zachery, Kelsey and Weston Hutson all of Scottsbluff; brothers and sisters-in-law Ronald and Sharon Klein and Byron and Donna Klein, all of Mitchell, and Kenneth and Susan Klein of Fredrick, Colo.; sister Etta Mae Lawrence of Waverly, NY; sister and brother-in-law Connie and John Rein of Gering; former son-in-law Kirk Hutson of Gering; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; an infant sister; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Thos are the statistics now for the lady.

She was my mom. She doted on her children and grandchildren. We were what she lived for. There was never a time she wasn't there for us.

She passed away too young from an undetected heart defect complicated by West Nile Virus and heart disease. She went very unexpectedly and quickly. I was told she didn't even know it.

Besides us she loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Nascar, her friends, her job, reading, and more.

She was quick with a hug when someone needed it and always made time for anyone asking.

The words just aren't there to describe my mom. If you knew her, you loved her and she probably returned the feeling.

Part of her ashes are buried with her parents, sister and one brother. The rest are with me.

"I'm Free"

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard His call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found the peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void
The fill it with remembered joys -
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdended with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much -
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts, and peace to Thee -
God wanted me now, He set me free.
