EMIL KRAHNER

Emil Krahner, 82, of 4049 Pratt Lake Rd., Gladwin, died Wednesday, April 7, in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor.

Born in Germany on March 23,1900, he came to the United States in 1901 and to Gladwin County in 1913, from St. Joseph. He was a tool and die maker and operated a blacksmith shop in Gladwin for several years. Mr. Krahner was also a carpenter and built many barns in the Gladwin area. He was a member of the Allen Park Masonic Lodge Key 580, F&AM.

Mr. Krahner and the former Florence Chard were married June 25,1924, in Detroit. Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Keith of Orchard Lake and Warren of Holly; 2 daughters, Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) Hunt of Houston, Texas and Mrs. Merle (Shirley) Picard of Taylor; 3 brothers, Edward, Harry and William of Gladwin; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Mathews Funeral Home by the Gladwin Masonic Lodge 397, F&AM. Burial was in the Ridge Cemetery. Gladwin County Record dated 4-14/1982.
