F. L. Handley was born in Austin County, Texas, January 30, 1870, and was raised by Methodist parents. May 7, 1891 he was married to Miss Lottie E. Cox, a Christian woman. September 1895, he was baptized by Bro. J. C. White of Hico, Texas, and began active work in the church. F. L. was the son of Charles D. Handley and Mary (Williams) Handley and married Lottie Emma Cox on May 7, 1891 in McGregor, McLennon Co., Texas. He was the father of Eula Bell (Handley) Folknor, Walter Franklin Handley, Harvey Griggs Handley, Wallace Monroe Handley, Sallie Mae (Handley) Ashmore Hill, Alvie Jackson "Jack" Handley, Nettie Elizabeth (Handley) Ethridge Merritt, Lawrence Edward Handley, and Grace Nadine (Handley) Jenkins.
