US Soldier killed at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. 1st Sergeant Bobo enlisted into the army on December 27, 1867, in New York, NY. He was described as 5-'6", brown hair, hazel eyes with a fair complexion. His civilian occupation was listed as clerk. On February 5, 1868, Bobo was assigned to Company C, 7th US Cavalry Regiment at Ft Leavenworth, KS. Company C was commanded by two time Medal of Honor recipient and LTC George A Custer's brother, Captain Tom Custer. Bobo would eventually achieved the status of becoming one of the regiment's most senior sergeants. He also participated at the Battle of the Washita. At the Battle of the Little Bighorn Bobo was the 1st Sergeant of Company C. Capt Custer, who was still the commanding officer, had been assigned as the Aide-de-Camp to his brother, LTC Custer. In Capt Custer's absence, the inexperienced 2nd Lt Henry Harrington took command. Bobo was killed sometime during the fighting. After the battle, Bobo's remains were not found with the other bodies from Company C. Instead his body was found near the remains of Capt Myles Keogh's. Capt Keogh had been the commanding officer of Company I. On the day of the battle, Capt Keogh was in command of the right wing of Custer's battalion. Company C and Company I were part of the right wing. Bobo was initially buried where he had been found. In 1881 all known battlefield burials were moved to a mass grave on Last Stand Hill. 1st Sgt Bobo was survived by his wife, Missouri Ann Wycoff, and two children (Charles F and Frank E). On April 12, 1877, Sgt Daniel Kanipe, also a member of the 7th Cavalry and survivor of the Battle of the Little Bighorn, married Bobo's widow. Bobo and Kanipe had been close friends. On April 14, 1879, his widow was awarded a survivor's pension.
