In a letter home, received shortly before the notice of his death, he had evidenced some premonition of death because he wrote that his relatives should keep praying for him. He didn't think that he was going to last very long. It is hard for us in the security of this country to realize how close to death these boys of ours were at all times in those winter months in Germany.
