Birth: Nov. 13, 1868
Dade County

Death: Jul. 6, 1926
Greene County
Missouri, USA

Charles and his father John N. ran a general store on the south side of Dadeville, Missouri's main street. In 1892 they started a private bank, J.N. Landers & Company, in their store to serve the community. Charles was the first cashier, and the bank's name later changed to Landers & Son Bank in 1896. About 1899 the Landers built a brick building across from their general store and opened the Bank of Dadeville. It closed about 1905, but reorganized in 1918 as the Crisp Prairie Bank. It was in operation until the time of the Great Depression in the late 1920's early 30's.

In a horrible tragedy Charles F. Landers was shot at Crisp Prairie Bank July 6, 1926, at 1:30 pm, in a broad daylight hold-up, by one robber. Charles died that night at a Springfield hospital.

Other cashiers at the bank included Charles' wife Effie, his cousin Mount Etna Morris, George Bear and Calvin Hall.

Children of Charles and Effie Landers are Bernice Effie (Mrs Robert "Bob" Kyle Hailey) and John "Herbert", husband of Ruth Kirby.
