Our Yager Dogger, who was half Border Collie & half McNab, resided with us for 12 years. In appearance, this black & white beauty was all Border Collie. ❤️

Yager came from a back hills country ranch, located near Yager Creek. He and another male from his litter were considered excess, and they had been slated for "disposal". Daughter #1 rescued Yager and Yager's brother, who we found a good home for, with a nice family. We had to hide Yager when they came to see the pups, as daughter #2 told us that she would cry FOREVER if we gave him away!

Yager went to puppy classes, on beach trips, rides around town, walks through the neighborhood, visits to Grandmom's house, trips to his Veterinarian, etc. but he never became socialized towards anyone outside of the family.

We had a large backyard on a double-sized lot and he used that space to run off his high energy, usually while carrying a plastic baseball bat in his mouth. He did have the herding instinct, and I found that by keeping him supplied with large plastic washtubs, he could turn them on their side and roll them all over the yard "herding" them to the right spot.

Yager also thought it was great fun to chase daughter #2 up the slippery part of her slide. She could make it to the top, while Yager got to the halfway point and then slipped back down to the bottom.

Yager had his own cozy house, with insulated floor, on our covered patio where he slept with his special fuzzy blanket. His name plaque was above the door and had been handmade by my husband.

In the evenings he would spend time with us in our TV room where he liked to play with his basket of toys.

Yager loved Frisbees, plastic baseball bats, stuffed animals, and being brushed. He also enjoyed his trips to the beach where he was entertained by chasing the waves when they "ran" from him.

Although he was not a "people person" Yager loved cats. When our neighbor's cat, Callie, would come to our yard, Yager would stand absolutely still while she rubbed up against his legs, enjoying her soft caress.

The years passed by with good health until distressing symptoms sent us seeking a diagnosis. Yager was euthanized while still under anesthesia, when our Vet found an extremely large bladder tumor that was incapable of being treated by surgery.

Our backyard was then so very silent....

We love you, Yager

August-2014...we had to take your old doghouse apart, but I kept the front panel with your nameplate attached.

February-2016...your name plaque is now attached to the South Street side of our garage.

♥ More pictures to come later ♥
