The following information was graciously provided by Barbara Burt, whose husband is a sixth great grandson of Benjamin Burt.
"He was born in 1680 in Springfield, Ma. His parents were David and Mary Holten Burt. And he was the grandson of Henry and Eulalia Marche Burt, who were "the immigrants" that came from England in the 1630's.
Benjamin was married to Sarah Belden on Oct. 19, 1702, supposedly in Deerfield, Ct. They had 10 known children, who were as follows: Christopher, Seaborn, Benjamin, Abigail, John, Sarah, Daniel, Thankful #1 who died young, Thankful #2, and Mary." After their capture during the Deerfield Massacre of the French & Indian War, they were held as prisoners in Canada and subsequently returned to Deerfield from whence they departed.
From Nancy, a descendant: "A correction on the information on Benjamin Burt in the Ridgefield Cemetery.
He was married in Deerfield MA and was taken hostage by the French and Indians along with his pregnant wife Sarah Belden/Belding. This is well documented in the History of Deerfield MA by Geo. Sheldon."
