Allen came to TN with his father, some where in 1814, at the age of 10. Allen Gipson is believed to be the son of David Gipson. David Gipson was born somewhere around 1755.
Allen Gipson served at the request of the U. S. government as a spy in the Cherokee War.
Allen Gipson 'donated' a large part - approximately 72 acres- of what is now the Domain of the University of the South, in the year 1858.
