He was born in Lincolnton, but was a longtime resident of Fairfax, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Ruth Hovis, his sister, Ann Hovis and sister-in-law, Kay Hovis.
Tom was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked in sales for the entirety of his career. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion Fairfax Post 177 where he served as a Historian for a number of years. He was also an active member of the Elks Club of Fairfax. In recent years Tom, along with his wife Ann, enjoyed bird watching.
Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park.
