Robert N. Hinton, 83, of 23 Spring Hill Lane, New Castle, died the night of Jan. 23 at the Trinity Living Center, Grove City.
Born Sept. 6, 1927, in Punxsutawney, he was a son of Walter and Bertha Tomlin Hinton.
He married Ethel Marie Schehl on Feb. 24, 1949. She survives in Grove City.
He was a private first class in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Germany and Switzerland.
Robert was a truck driver for Norwalk Trucking in Beaver Falls and retired in 1985.
He was a member of the Teamsters union, and he enjoyed hunting.
He also was a member of the St. Joseph the Worker church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara and Thomas Kirkwood of New Castle, Kathie and Mike Potemra of Ellwood City and Lyn Ann Hinton of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert John and Lena Hinton of Yulee, Fla., and Kenneth and Susan Hinton of Mercer; two brothers, Jack Hinton and Walter Hinton, both of Butler; two sisters, Leonabelle Ray of Butler and Evelyn Warren of Goodyear, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Elsie Good, and one brother, Lorraine Hinton.
HINTON - Visitation for Robert N. Hinton, who died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Caste. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph the Worker church. Father Frank Erdeljac will officiate. Burial will be in the Resurrection Mausoleum of the St. Mary Cemetery, New Castle.
The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , Lawrence/Mercer Unit, 3208-B Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105.
