Charles D. Archibald
Charles D. Archibald, 84, of Tarentum, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, in Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Harrison Township. He was born Dec. 13, 1925, in Tarentum, a son of the late Charles Archibald and Mamie Cunningham Archibald.
He lived in Lower Burrell for 55 years and lived for the past two years in Tarentum.
He was an employee of Krogers and Foodland for 45 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Grace Community Presbyterian Church, Lower Burrell.
Charles served in the Navy in World War II as a signalman for three years. He was a member of the VFW Natrona Heights, Post 92, American Legion, Lower Burrell, and Masonic Lodge, Tarentum.
His hobby was woodworking for all of his grandchildren and spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Glenna Stepp Archibald; daughter, Diane Broadfoot, of Lower Burrell; three sons, David (Harriett) Archibald, of Lower Burrell, Dale (Sandra) Archibald, of Lower Burrell, and Dean (Michelle) Archibald, of Washington Township; three sisters, Isabelle (Howard) Prager, of Brackenridge, Doretta Kurn, of Natrona Heights, and Betty (Gordon) Witchey, of New Kensington; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, Lower Burrell. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Grace United Presbyterian Church, Lower Burrell, with the Rev. Ken Foust officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
