Freddie Allen, Jr.
(September 26, 1931 - November 6, 2014)

U.S. Veteran Funeral services for Freddie Allen, 83, of Mansfield, LA will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bill Kleinpeter officiating. Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Keithville, LA.

Born September 26, 1931, Deatsville, Alabama at home, the son of Sadie Elizabeth Grier and Freddie Elbert Allen, third of four children. Being a child of the Great Depression helped form his beliefs. He was inducted into the Marine Corps in 1948, October 1. Freddie was the consummate soldier. Had he lived in the days of King Arthur, he would have been there. The Marine Corps was, and is, the center of his life.

He served as President of the Chosin Few, 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions and other military organizations. He took part in battle at the Chosin Reservoir November-December, 1950, was wounded and received the Purple Heart. In total, twelve years at various posts, achieving rank of Staff Sgt.

He was blessed to father six children to love him, three of whom survive him. He leaves a big footprint. Freddie was not outwardly religious, but his faith in God was deep and true. He was baptized as a Christian in 2014 and he has accepted Christ as his Savior years ago. We know that at this moment he is with God the Father, the angels, and St. Michael, the Archangel. He took the name as Michael as his Saint name.

Allen, Freddie, 83, of Mansfield, died Thursday; services at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, Coushatta; burial at 10 a.m. Monday in Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Keithville.
