Paul served as a Private First Class, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 5, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted as being employed in the production of cement and also as Married.

Paul died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident after the war was over.

Hamburg Sun - July 22, 1948

Full military honors were given Pfc Paul D. MacNeil yesterday afternoon in Prospect Lawn Cemetery by Herbert E. Shero Post, VFW, with the Rev. Fred M. Webber, minister of Lake Street Presbyterian Church officiating. Private MacNeil was killed in a glider crash in Britain in December 1945, and was the second Hamburg man to lose his life in the recent war. Services were held at the W. L. Froehley Funeral Home in Lake Street.

PFC MacNeil leaves his wife, the former May Morrow, and two children, Paul and Robert. He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. MacNeil, formerly of Hamburg and two brothers.
