Salem - Dorothy Mae Kostelecky, a resident of Salem, died on October 31, 2016 in Cottage Grove. She was 92 years of age.

Dorothy was born on March 16, 1924 in Dickinson, North Dakota and was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Dvorak) Kralicek. She attended school in Dickinson and on June 18, 1946, she married Edmund Alexander Kostelecky in New Hradec, North Dakota.

They moved to Salem, Oregon in 1956 where Dorothy worked 29 years for Willamette Cherry Growers. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where she volunteered with the Knights of Columbus and the Altar Society. She was a proud member of the American Rosie the Riveter Association and was an avid sports fan. Dorothy loved her soap operas and enjoyed polka music, reading, baking and spending time with friends and family. Her greatest loves were her grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Dennis (wife, Kim Kambak) Kostelecky of Prineville, OR, Conrad (husband, Hank Muffett) Kostelecky of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Michelle Crisman of Springfield, OR and Connie (husband, Jerry) Pifer of Cottage Grove, Oregon; sister, Lillian Moore of LaGrande, OR and brother, Joseph Kralicek of Dickinson, ND, along with four grandchildren (Clayton Kostelecky, Alec Crisman, Josef Pifer, Marianna Pifer), two step-grandchildren (Elliott Wharton, Abigail Wharton), one great-grandchild (Tate Kostelecky), and one great-step-grandchild (Briggs Wharton). Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund, along with eight brothers and sisters.

A funeral mass will be held on November 11, 2016 at 11:00 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Salem. Private inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery. Contributions may be made in memory of Dorothy to the St. Vincent de Paul Altar Society. Howell, Edwards, Doerksen Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
