Following graduation from Decatur High School in Dresden, Kan., in 1934, Mr. Bainter served as secretary of his senior class of six students.

He met his wife, Lilyan Ann Gottfried in the fourth grade, 79 years ago. They married July 20, 1938, in Greeley, Colo., and were married for 65 years.

In 1941, he went to work for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company in Wyoming. He was the last groundsman hired in the state. From the early 1960s until this past spring, he was the secretary-treasurer for the Orchard Valley Water Company.

In 1961 he started his own cattle herd south of Cheyenne from a herd he bought from the original Wyoming Hereford Ranch. He ran as many 80 cattle at one time. In January, Mr. Bainter sold the last of his cattle herd.

He was a 33rd degree Mason.
