Oscar Willis Allen was born on Saturday, 08 Oct 1892 in Fowler, Otero, Colorado to Albert Willis Allen and Mary Louisa McFarland. He lived in Liberty, Linn, Kansas on 05 Jun 1900. Then in 1901 the family moved to American Ridge near Troy, Idaho, where he received his education. He lived in South Troy, Latah, Idaho on 07 May 1910. He lived in Cavendish, Nez Perce, Idaho on 05 Jun 1917. In the spring of 1918 he lived in Alberta, Canada where the Allenís bought and farmed wheat land for two years. The Allenís got ran out because of damaging hailstorms and -48į winters. In the fall of 1920 found him in Clarkston, Asotin, Washington. He lived in the Lewiston-Clarkston valley for the rest of his life. Oscar worked in a bakery owned by the Millerís at 848 Main St. in Lewiston, Nez Perce, Idaho. Then on 11 Oct 1923 after having worked for them for a little over a year the Allenís bought the bakery. He lived in Lewiston, Nez Perce, Idaho on 05 Apr 1930. The Allen Bakery was sold on 03 Aug 1937 in Lewiston, Nez Perce, Idaho after 13 y 9 m 23 d where they churned out many a wedding cakes (Viola frosted many, many) and breads (Oscar baked the best rolls). He lived in West Orchards, Nez Perce, Idaho on 03 Apr 1940. He lived in Lewiston, Nez Perce, Idaho in 1942. He moved on 01 Aug 1944 to Clarkston, Asotin, Washington his last home. He died on Tuesday, 10 Apr 1973 in Clarkston, Asotin, Washington. He was buried on Saturday, 14 Apr 1973 in Normal Hill Cemetery, Lewiston, Nez Perce, Idaho.

Oscar had a love of baking breads, camping, going to the lakes, traveling and a huge love of fishing. The Allenís entertained quite often.

Oscar Willis Allen and Viola Mae Whitesel were married on Easter Sunday, 12 Apr 1914 in Juliaetta, Latah, Idaho.

They had the following child:

i. Gerald Dean Allen was born on Saturday, 23 Apr 1921 in Clarkston, Asotin, Washington. He married Helen Elizabeth Miller on Saturday, 07 Aug 1943 in Jacksonville, Duval, Florida. He died on Friday, 15 Jul 1955 in Pensacola, Escambia, Florida at age 34 y 2 m 22 d (a helicopter training accident). He was buried on Saturday, 23 Jul 1955 in Normal Hill Cemetery, Lewiston, Nez Perce, Idaho.


The funeral service was conducted Saturday at 2 pm at Merchant Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph C. W. Lee of the Clarkston United Methodist Church officiating with a procession to meet at the Normal Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers were George E. Clark, Willard R. Clark, Robert L. Clark, Raymond C. Whitesel, Harvey Spears, Ray Allen and Steve Allen.

ii. Charles Henry Allen was born on Saturday, 15 Oct 1898 in Fowler, Otero, Colorado. He married (1) Eda Olive Harris on Monday, 04 Oct 1920 in Moscow, Latah, Idaho; (2) Peggy Agnes Preville on Tuesday, 08 Mar 1949, in Moscow, Latah, Idaho. He died on Wednesday, 09 Dec 1987 in Spokane, Spokane, Washington at age 89 y 1 m 24 d.

iii. Carrie Allen was born on Monday, 09 Feb 1903 in Troy, Latah, Idaho. She married (1) Everett Elias Emmett on Monday, 22 Dec 1924 in St. Helens, Columbia, Oregon; (2) Walter Leroy Clawson on Saturday, 06 Oct 1928 in Vancouver, Clark, Washington; (3) Kenneth Clayton Hutchison on Tuesday, 16 Jan 1951 in Vancouver, Clark, Washington. She died on Tuesday, 02 Jul 1991 in Gresham, Multnomah, Oregon at age 88 y 4 m 23 d. She was buried on Monday, 08 Jul 1991 in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Multnomah, Oregon.

iv. Thurman Miller Allen was born on Monday, 24 Jul 1905 in Troy, Latah, Idaho. He died on Friday, 09 Jun 1967 in Vancouver, Clark, Washington at age 61 y 10 m 16 d. He was buried Jun 1967 in Moscow Cemetery, Moscow, Latah, Idaho.
