Katherine S. Harrell
Katherine S. Harrell, 75, of Willis, Texas died Thursday morning at Medical Center Hospital Hospital in Conroe.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Emken-Linton Funeral Home. The Rev. Dwayne MArtin officiating.
Burial will follow services at Galveston Memorial Park under the direction of Emken-Linton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harrell was born in Grapevine, Texas April 21, 1906. She was a retired school teacher for the Texas City school district.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Texas City Business and Professional Women and the Democratic Party.
Mrs. Harrell was also named Woman of the Year by the Texas City Businesss and Professional Women in 1973. She was an active member in thew American Association of University Women, the Texas City Heritage Association, and she helped organize and was the first president of the Women's Missionary Society.
Survivors include her daughter, JoAnne Arnold of Conroe; granddaughters, LAura Fletcher of Kingwood and Lisa Tirado of Dallas; and a great granddaughter, Caroline Fletcher of Kingwood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. E.M. Ammons, Vernon Porter, William H. Hadley, W.H. Nelson, E.W. Franklin, E.C. Arnold Jr., and Lynn Fletcher.
Visitors may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. today.
