Lance Corporal Lawrence Richard "Larry" Oldcorn served in Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Republic of South Vietnam, (DMZ area) in 1968.
He was a field artillery cannoneer 0811 assigned to gun 6 as a gun crew member on 105 Howitzers.
During operation LZ Torch , near Khe Sanh, in the early morning hours of 11 June 1968, Charlie Battery came under a heavy volume of motar, small arms, and automatic weapons fire supporting an aggressive assalt by a company size North Vietnamese Army Force.
L/Cpl Larry Oldcorn received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for wounds received while in action at operation LZ Torch on 11 June 1968.
Lawrence R. Oldcorn married Sandra A. Oldcorn in 1970 and divorced in 1976. He then married Georgea Younis in 1983.
