Raymond Dancy enlisted in the US Marine Corp in 1942. Was married to wife Lois Virginia Prater after WW II for about 17 years until his early death in 1962. The Couple had five children - 4 sons: Gregory Richard, Larry Eugene, Gary L. & Terry L. Dancy; and 1 daughter: Cynthia Rae Dancy.

The following Obituary appeared in the Canton Repository:

"DANCY, Raymond B., Age 38, of 2403 6th St NW, passed away in Timken Mercy Hospital Wednesday morning shortly after being admitted for a heart seizure. He was a life resident of Canton. He did construction work for Sears Co. He was formerly employed with the Timken Roller Bearing Co. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and served with the Marine Corps in WW II. Surviving are his widow, Lois; four sons: Gregory, Larry, Gary & Terry; one daughter, Cynthia, all of the home; five brothers: Robert of Canton, George of New Wilkesboro, NC, Samuel of Lake City, FL, John & Noah of Cleveland; five sisters: Mrs William Lane of Phoenix, AZ, Mrs Earl Lane of Elizabethton, TN, Mrs Robert Banks of Lake City, FL, Mrs Dale Rogers of Ravens Falls, NC, and Mrs Charles Janson of Norfolk, VA. Services will be held at the Kreighbaum Funeral Home Saturday at 1 pm with Elder Gerald Smith officiating. Interment in West Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
