James L. Brown passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2011, at the age of 79.
He was born on July 19, 1931, in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Jim served in the U.S. Army. He spent the majority of his life being a farmer in Ohio which was his true passion. He was a 65-year member of the Morgan Grange.
After marrying his high school sweetheart Jane in 1984, he relocated to Ojai for the remainder of his life. Jim was a heart transplant recipient at UCLA Oct. 15, 1997.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, and survived by his brother, Duane and family in Ohio. He also is survived by the love of his life, Jane; three stepdaughters, Joy (Tom) Coggeshall, Peggy (David) Kunz, and Nancy (Tommy) Davison; three grandchildren, Shawna, Missy and Dalton; seven great-grandchildren, Haylee, Ivy, Beth, Isabella, Jacob, Brennan and Gracie.
Thank you to Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses and Hospice, Ojai Hospital Continuing Care Center and Drs. McManus and Petroff for their dedicated care and support.
