James Wylie dominated the game of draughts (AKA checkers in America) for more than 50 years, reigning as World Champion for no less than 40 years. In 1873 Wylie toured America and played eleven thousand games, winning all but fifty. In 1881 James Wylie made another tour that reaped him a monetary harvest when he played nearly twenty thousand games, charging his adversaries twenty-five cents per game.
