Clark was the son of Abner L Gaddis 1787 – 1854 and Martha Byal 1794 – 1887 Gaddis who emmigrated to Wayne county, Ohio sometime prior to 1820. His father was a soldier in the war of 1812 out of Pennsylvania. His mother a native of Ohio.
