Betty Ann Parson passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016, after a sudden illness.

Betty was born to Clara Witt Metzger Muir and Edward Metzger in Dodge, NE on July 18, 1926. Her family moved from Dodge to Central City, then to Fremont when she was young. She graduated from Fremont Senior High School in 1945. She attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln for a short time, where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, before marrying Wendell Parson on August 8, 1946. They lived on the family farm near Valley, and were married for 55 years. Wendell and Betty were members of a card club that met monthly for many years, and also enjoyed dancing at the Elk's club in Fremont. After retiring they enjoyed traveling, and spent winters in Mesa, AZ.

Betty was an active member of the Fremont Does for many years in which she held many offices, and she was also an active member of a Dodge county extension club for many years.

She worked at Younker-Kilpatricks department store in Omaha as fabric department manager from 1968-1971, and store manager of the House of Fabrics in Fremont from 1971-1974.

Betty loved to host gatherings of family and friends, sew, paint, arrange flowers, and create craft projects.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Wendell Parson (July 14, 2001), daughter Lynda Parson Radant, sisters Ruth Carlson, and Jean Barton and brother Merrill Metzger.

She is survived by son, Steve Parson (Carol) of Valley, NE; daughters, Terri Parson (Terry Majewski) of Heber Springs, AR and Jean Wilcox (Doug) of Omaha, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at United Faith Community Church in Valley, Ne, Rev. Carl Ratcliff officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, Nebraska.
