NORWALK-Carl R. Hicks, 69, of Norwalk, died Thursday afternoon at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. He was born July 28, 1934, in Garrett, Kentucky and came to this area in 1951 from Garrett. He has been the pastor of The Temple of God Church in Shelby for the past 14 years and had been the associate pastor of Trinity Temple Church in Milan from 1963 to 1964. He was a former employee of the Berlin Fruit Box Company in Berlin Heights, the Eastern States Farmers Exchange in Huron and had been the manager of Lee Manor Apartments in Norwalk for 17 years. He retired in 1996 from Ford Motor Company in Lorain after 30 years of service. He enjoyed staying busy with everyday projects. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ethel M. (Castle) Hicks of Norwalk; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Eugene and Janice Faye Hicks of Elberta, Alabama; daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Joe Robles of Elberta, Alabama, Jeanette and Troy Shepherd of North Fairfield and Lisa Charlene and Robert Miller of New London; a brother, Ervin Luther Hicks of Collins; a sister Anna Pebley of Fairborn; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Crozy (Sexton) Hicks; and grandsons, Sean and Brad Robles.
