Falmouth, Athalie Basford, 64, of 465 Gray Road died Thursday at a Portland hospital after a long illness. She was born in Corinna, a daughter of Donald and Ethelyn Skinner Smith and attended schools there. Mrs. Basford came here 30 years ago. She was employed by healthtex Corp. as a sleever, retiring in 1980. She was a member of Cumberland Congregational Church. Her husband died in 1980. Surviving are two sons, William H. of Waterboro and Allan D. of Nebraska; a daughter Mrs. Lester (Marie) Harmon, of Gray; Three brothers, Dean Smith of Bangor, Donald Smith and Glenn Smith, both of Gorham; two sisters, Hilma Knowles of Corinna and Gwendolyn Gillian of Richmond and three granndchildren.
