DEATH OF MRS. SUSANNA ABBOTT, ONE OF THE OLDEST RESIDENTS OF THE COUNTY.
Susanna Abbott was born in Fairfield county Dec. 15, 1815. She was married to Wm. Abbott in 1836, to which union six children were born, two sons and four daughters, five of whom are living, namely; Daniel Abbott of Craigville, Ind., Eli Abbott of Maplewood, Mrs Morgan of Indiana, Mrs. Maggie Swim and Mrs. Catherine Botkin of this place. She moved to Shelby county in 1836. For many years they lived on a farm about two miles west of town where Mr. Abbott died in February 1899. For about two and a half years she had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Swim, where she died September 18, 1905, at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 3 days. She had been a member of the Reformed church for many years and lived an earnest christian life, enduring her suffering with remarkable patience. Besides her children, she leaves a large number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the M.E. church Wednesday afternoon. Interment at Swanders.
