American Revolutionary War Soldier. According to a marker near the Jefferson Cutter House in Arlington Center (not far from the cemetery), he, at the age of 80 years, "killed three British soldiers April 19, 1775 [the first day of the American Revolution]. He was shot, bayoneted, beaten and left for dead, but recovered and lived to be 98 years of age." He was the son of Samuel and Hannah Rix (or Rice). His first wife, Elizabeth Spring, whom he married about 1721, was the daughter of Henry and Lydia Spring. His second wife, Esther Green, whom he married in Lexington, was the widow of Amos Muzzey, also of Lexington.
