Espiridion Casillas y Cornejo was the son of Ruperto Casillas y Gómez and María Refugia Cornejo y Gómez. He resided in San Antonio, Texas, for a few months in 1908, possibly while employed by the railroad. He re-entered the United States by rail with his brother Bernardo at Laredo, Texas, on June 8, 1912, bound for San Antonio, Texas. He was single at the time. Espiridion returned to Valle de Guadalupe, Jalisco, Mexico, where he married Virginia Gutiérrez y Jaureguí about 1915 before returning to the United States as a railroad employee where he was based out of Galesburg, Illinois, from September 1916 until April 1917. Espiridion re-entered the United States by rail at El Paso, Texas, on April 30, 1918, this time accompanied by his wife Virginia and son Victor. A second son, Carmen, was born at El Paso in May. After Carmen was born his wife returned with the children to Jalisco and he went to Santa Monica, California, where his wife and sons rejoined him late that in 1918. His sons Ramón and Ruperto were born at Santa Mónica. The census taker found him living with his family at 1427 24th Street in January 1920. Espiridion returned to Valle de Guadlupe with Virginia in 1938, re-entering the United States at Laredo, Texas, on September 26. He was then residing at 1701 21st Street, Santa Monica. He operated a grocery store at 1920 Olympic Blvd. under the name "E. C. Casillas & Sons" with his sons Victor and Ruperto. His son Carmen operated a barbershop, whereas Ramon was employed as a mechinist at Douglas Aircraft. Three of his sons served their country in the military; Ruperto flew combat missions over Europe in the Army Air Corps, Godfrey was an Army paratrooper, and Elias was an Air Force fighter pilot in Korea and Viet Nam. Espiridion's older brother, Bernardo Casillas y Cornejo, and his paternal grandfather, Eustaquio Casillas y Tolosa, are also buried in this cemetery.
