LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Arthur L. Duckett, 55, former Provo businessman, was found dead in his swimming pool Thursday afternoon. Mr. Duckett has been living in the Long Beach area for the past eight years.

He was born May 8, 1913 [1916], in Provo, a son of Edward James and Jessie Souter Duckett. He received his education in Provo, being a graduate of Provo High School.

He married Mary Christensen on June 15, 1936 in the Salt Lake Temple and they were later divorced. He then married Beverly Bagwell.

He was owner and manager in Provo of A.L. Duckett Sales and Service for many years. He served as president of the National Chrysler Dealer Council for six years. He held the office of Seventy as a member of the LDS Church. He was also active in civil affairs, serving as president of the Provo 20-30 Club, member of Provo Rotary Club, an officer of the Civil Air Patrol during World War II, and was a member of the Provo Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his widow, Long Beach; one son and three daughters, Mrs. Don D. (Mary Lynne) Clark, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Steven A. Duckett, Springville; Colette and Michele, both of Provo; 12 grandchildren; one brother and three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Gilgore [Killgore] and Mrs. J. Max (Irene) Roberts, both of Salt Lake City; Jack Duckett and Mrs. A. Rex (Beverly) Dunford, both of Provo; and aunt, Miss Elizabeth Souter, of Provo.

Funeral services in Provo are pending and will be announced later.
Arthur L. Duckett - Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Berg Drawing Room of Provo. Friends may call today from 6-8 and prior to services Monday. Interment will be in the East Lawn Cemetery.

Cause of Death:
Drowned by his 2nd wife in their swimming pool, she was convicted of murder and embezzlement.
