Veteran of WWIIWWII Veteran Stanley Baczek Stanley W. Baczek 1917 - 2009 BENNINGTON, VT Stanley W. Baczek, 92, a longtime resident of Main St. in Bennington, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, following a brief illness. born in Adams, Mass., Dec. 17, 1917, he was the son of Albert and Agnes Baczek. Stanley received his education in Adams, Mass. Mr. Baczek served in the Army during World War II. He fought in South Africa, the Ardens and the Rhinelands He married the former Josephine L. Barber in July of 1960. Mrs. Baczek died December 27, 1994. Mr. Baczek worked for over 40 years as a bartender in restaurants in the North Adams and Williamstown, Mass., area. He leaves a daughter, Myrtis McSweeney of Waltham, Mass., two grandchildren, Judith McSweeney and Kevin McSweeney, both of Port Charlotte, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a close friend, Jean O'Connor of Bennington. He was predeceased by three sisters, Stella Murphy, Isabelle Skubel and Anna Baczek, and three brothers, Frank Baczek, Frederick Baczek and Edward Baczek. At the request of Mr. Baczek, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. The burial will take place at the convenience of the family in the family lot in the Hoosick Rural Cemetery in Hoosick, N.Y. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Mr. Baczek may be made to either the Vermont Chapter of the American Cancer Society or the Bennington Rescue Squad through the office of the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
